I discovered this problem with my two recliner chairs. I couldn't figure
out how to discourage Calvin from sleeping in his favorite spot - the
hammock created by the dust cover under the recliner. After months of
being afraid of sitting and reclining or rocking in my own "nest" I tipped
the chairs over and removed the cover from the bottom of each. What a
simple solution to a dangerous problem.
Our couch is a different problem. The fuzzies sleep on the back ledge of
the sofa sleeper. A safe enough spot but a difficult one to coax them out
of. I have learned to give them a treat when they do come out - if I do
have to search and find, I still give a treat when they are both in their
cage for the night. Thinking maybe my babies will eventually learn to come
for their nightly treat???
I learned through the FML that ferrets can learn tricks. It took 3 weeks
and now Calvin rolls over repeatedly for Cherios. He is so cute and smart!
I started with a gentle push and verbal command and turned the Cherio in a
clockwise circle. He doesn't need any help at all now. I even got the Cat
to do it just from watching. After Calvin rolls over a few times, Yoshi
will plop right on his back and beg even though he doesn't even like
Cherios. Ever see a cat learn to roll over? Lots of Laughs.
