Well, I finally had the guts to pick up Akasha & Isis from our Vet's
freezer to bury them.  It was one of the hardest things I've ever done.
 
While at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital with Harley this week,
I learned some interesting things. 1st on Harley;
 
He's still got a pus blockage in his nose passage, but the doctor feels his
range of motion in his jaw is a **bit** better.  Good news for him.  There
was another culture & sensitivity test on what they got from his sinuses.
 
2nd.  While speaking to the vet about adrenal disease, I learned something
you all might find interesting.  As most of us have feelings that early
spay/neutering is harmful to our fuzzies, and most of us also feel it
contributes to Adrenal Disease, I feel it necessary to share this
information with you.
 
While testing some mice for Adrenal Disease (yes mice get it too), the
veterinarians tried an experiment.  They took a group of mice from the same
litters, early neutered 1/2 of them and left the others to mature.  To
their suprise, most of the early neutered mice came in with Adrenal Gland
Hyperplasia!
 
The veterinarian is very interested in doing a similar study with ferrets,
but as a Government funded hospital, he feels he wouldn't get the funding
right now.  Our Society (the FAST) will work with this vet when the time is
right and the funding is available.
