You can make a hammock by sewing two pieces of 16 inch x 16 inch (approx.)
of cotton material right sides together. When you do this, sew a piece of
twill tape inside each corner. Leave about a 4 inch opening. When sewn,
pull the material through the opening to turn right-side out. The twill
tape should be on the outside at each corner. Baste the opening closed and
topstitch a quarter inch in from the edge all the way around. (Use a whole
package of twill tape, cut into four pieces.)

You may enjoy using cute seasonal print cottons to fit various seasons of
the year. This week Farrah and Fannie will use their back-to-school
hammock. My favorite is their Halloween hammock which is purple with little
black bats with green eyes and goofy smiles flying around. You can wash
cotton hammocks in hot water and put in the dryer.

For warmth you can just get a piece of soft fleece material and fold it up
inside the cage. It s easy, as the edges on fleece won t fray without
"finishing." A piece about a yard and a half to two yards works well and
can also be washed in hot water. Farrah and Fannie use their fleece
blanket on summer nights when we set the A/C down to 76 degrees, as well
as during the winter.

Good luck.

Alice
