Early Monday morning, as I held Simon in my arms, he passed gently into an
eternal slumber. It was a peaceful and quiet death.

Simon was about 5-6 years old, and was an inquistive, sweet little Marshall
Farms sable with a freckled nose and a quiet demeanor. He loved beef jerky
and lusted after dried apricots. He was always a bit on the small and light
side, especially so after a bacterial infection a few years ago, but managed
to recover fully. His favorite toy was a wiffle golf ball with a small bell
pushed inside, and he could wrestle Chrys and Bear for hours. Simon was
adopted as part of a group of four, which included Gus, Nosette and
Balistic. Gus passed away from the same infection that ravaged Simon.

Tomorrow, Simon will be necropsied to see why he suddenly became ill. But
tonight, he and Gus are dancing on the bridge. I will miss him deeply.
