RE: CLEANLINESS FACTOR
Thank you, Troy Lynn for voicing this very important reminder. I am a big
believer in keeping one's ferret cage, play area, and food/water bowls very
clean. Both ferrets and owner will be happier and healthier as a result.
Habitually dirty cages and empty bowls are nothing less than animal cruelty.
On this note, I would like to share with you the cleaning solution that I
use to scrub down my fert cage and litter pans. This solution sanitizes
and deodorizes very well without heavy perfumes; it is also very
inexpensive!
1 part ammonia (approx. 1/4c.)
1 part vinegar (approx. 1/4c.)
2 parts baking soda (approx 1/2c.)
1 bucket of water
The amounts and proportions may be varied to suit your needs and
preferences.
Two important notes!!
1. Always, always let the scrubbed surfaces dry *thorougly* before letting
your ferrets near them.
2. Never, never mix bleach (e.g. clorox) and ammonia. The resultant gas
is deadly.

Gina Hart/Sage Ferrets
