Litter Box "Accidents"

I have a 9 month old male ferret who WAS 100% litter box trained (in and out
of the cage) -- never an accident. I adopted a 2 yr old male ferret a week
and a half ago and was told he was 100% litter box trained. Both guys will
use the paper in the bathroom, but have made a bad habit of using the
kitchen FLOOR (next to the litterbox). If I'm able to catch them in the
act, I place them in the litterbox before they do anything on the floor and
praise them for going in the litterbox. If I'm too late, any messes/puddles
are promptly cleaned up. It's been this way for a week now. Any
suggestions?
