I have used Prednisone for several reasons with my ferrets.  I have used it
to regulate the blood sugar levels in a ferret with insulinoma.  I have used
it on a ferret with advanced lymphoma to generally make the ferret feel
peppier.  I also had an older ferret who unexplainably lost weight.  We put
her on a low dose of Pred to stimulate the appetite, and after she put on
some weight, we weaned her off.  She subsequently maintained the weight that
she put on :-).
