Hello FML;
 
I have a problem I'm hoping you all can help me with.  One of my ferrets,
BJ, has been sick for a very long time with coccidia (sp?).  Not long after
the coccidia symptoms started he began sneezing & wheezing like he had a
cold.  The vet has had him on Amoxy, Clavamox, and at my suggestion we put
him on Albon.  Well, the coccidia seems to have cleared up (ie: no more
diarrhea) but the cold symptoms persist.  BJ has a very bad habit of
snorkeling in his litter box after we've forced meds (I guess we made him
mad) and as soon as we saw him doing this we began giving him a 'time out'
period to calm down after medications.  but now I strongly believe that
he's inhaled some litter into his nose.  His diarrhea from the coccidia
has cleared up and he's eating a little on his own.  But he's not thriving
(gaining weight) and he's deffinitely not eating with the same eagerness as
all his brothers & sisters.  As I said before the sneezing, wheezing & wet,
drippy nose continues.
 
Does anyone have any idea what kind of a test a vet can do to find out
if a ferret has something in his upper-respiratory region?  I'd greatly
appreciate any and all advice.
