Hello all,
We just joined the list so first of all a big hi to all the fuzzies and the
people they own. We have 3 babies now. Morgan and Richenda came from a
pet store and Dhugal was just adopted on the first from our local ferret
shelter. We are working on building a web page for the shelter, I will
give you all the address when its up and running.
I am writing this in response to Jamie who just adopted a new fuzzy on
Tuesday. IMHO you should keep Smokey away from Bandit for a while and let
him adjust to his new home. Let them introduce themselves by allowing
Smokey to see Bandit in his cage and vice versa. Then after about a week
you should allow very short intervals of play time (you may want to
lengthen this time since Bandit is still recovering from ECE). A pecking
order needs to be established but the stress of ECE and a new ferret in the
home may be too much for Bandit. Allow them to fight it out but separate
them if one draws blood or if one of them begins bottle brushing his tail.
I hope this is helpful. We are having good luck so far using this method,
which I read somewhere on *some* web page out there...sorry I don't remember
which one it was.
Best of luck to you...give it time and supervise, supervise, supervise!!
