I'm making the first trip to the vet tomorrow with the critters. I was going to
have to anyway since I needed to get an alusions (sp.) test done on them so I
could board them when I go out of town. I figured I'd have them vaccinated for
rabies while I was there. At any rate I got home today and found my female
showing the symtoms of being in heat. The vulva was swollen and she had some
red discharge. She didn't seem uncomfortable and was as playful as ever. What
would have been a relaxed trip sometime next week is now an imediate trip
tomorrow (today by the time this is read.) I'm a bit worried since she was
supposedly neutered. I'm almost hoping she does turn out to be in heat since
the only other things I can think of are a lot more serious.
On a brighter note, I managed to increase the ferret population here from 2 to
3. I'm fostering a 3 year old male from the local shelter and if his next
check-up is ok I'll adopt him. His name is Bud (for now) and he gets along
great with Nitro, my male, but as before Pico, the female, is not thrilled with
the addition. I think she'll come around though since she learned to get along
with Nitro (it took a few weeks and more than one battle royal.) I'm keeping
them seperated for now until I get Pico's medical situation sorted out.
