John, welcome to the FML! I totally understand how scary and heartbreaking
some of the stories on the FML can be, but the one thing to keep in mind
is that this is an informational forum where fuzzy owners can turn to with
questions and concerns about our fur kids. There are so many fuzzies out
there that are leading a wonderful, healthy life with their owners.

The FML is a quick resource to turn to when you have a question about a
sick fuzzy or other concern because some of the people that read and post
to this list are experienced fuzzy owners, vets, breeders, shelters, etc.
who can share valuable information with us. Of course, we all know that
the FML does not replace office visits to the vet when needed, but it does
assist us with suggestions and answers that could save unneccessary trips
to the vet and possibly save our fuzzies lives when a vet is trying to be
reached.

John, all four of my fuzzies are leading healthy, happy lives and I still
read my FML daily. There are so many things to be learned about these
wonderful creatures and we just keep learning. Without the FML (as many
others have testified), some of us would be "clueless" about how to even
take care of our little fuzzbutts. It has been a "salvation" for me. When
my first fuzzy was sick with a blockage, (at the time, I was a new ferret
owner) I did not know the signs or symptoms, just knew that something was
not right....I posted to the FML and immediately was told to go to the vet
and check for a blockage...indeed the people who responded to me were right!

For me, being owned by fuzzies have been nothing but pure delight and joy!
I love them and can't imagine life without them. Let us know here at the
FML if you do get 1 or 2 fuzzies. (Not sure of any ferret shelters in
Boise, but check them out...they are a WONDERFUL place to get your first
ferret). :-)
