Hi All,
It's been awhile since I posted, but it's now time. This is the ferret
shelter in St. George with a little problem. I have read about this topic
allot, but my situation seems to be a tiny bit different. I'm sure y'all
can help. I have 2 females and 2 males. The females came to me after I
already had the 2 males. As soon as the females came into the house
everything was fine, they all get along wonderful and play together. But
now any time I bring a ferret into the shelter my 2 females act like they
are gonna kill the new one. And of course the new one may be friendly and
playful until the first attack and then they are scared the rest of the time
they are with me. I would like to keep some of the ones I get, but I don't
because of the girls. I'm so afraid they will kill the new ferret, they are
so mean they scare me. This is one topic I'm new at when it comes to
ferrets fighting. I keep them separated and they have different play times,
I have a hard time letting them go to fight it out for themselves. I guess
I may be a little over protective (who Knows?)
I'm sure we all have horror stories of ferrets being brought into the
shelter but this is a good one. Yesterday I received a ferret from a mom
who has a 12 yr. old who didn't care for the ferret. When I got there to
pick the ferret up I saw an immediate problem. The collar on the ferret was
so tight I couldn't figure out how he was breathing. I couldn't wait to get
home to get it off. When I got home I couldn't get it off by myself so I
went to the neighbors to help me. As I held the poor little guy the girl
had to peel the collar off ( SKIN AND ALL). I have never in all my life
seen anything so gross. I hope his hair grows back. I'm not telling this
story to be judgemental just amazed.
