FURRY had a picnic in the park today, and we discovered an unexpected talent
in one of our rescues, sweet Samantha. The cicadas were all over the place,
hordes of them, and Samantha was determined to make a dent. So she hunted
and killed cicadas, at least four of them! (And she ate them too, crunch
crunch.) One landed on Kurt's T-shirt, and since I was holding her at the
time I put her on his chest, and she grabbed that cicada and shook it most
thoroughly! I don't know if shaking kills cicadas, but this is apparently
the preferred method. Another ferret person at the picnic plucked a cicada
out of a tree and got Samantha to follow him around by waving the bug in
front of her nose. He relented and let her have it eventually. Pretty
funny stuff!
By the way, none of the other ferrets there showed ANY interest in these
bugs.
