Hi All!

I came across an old book in our archive/library at work, which was written
in german (Thanks again for the translation Carl!). It is from 1914, and
the peice on ferrets was surprisingly good, if a bit dated. According to
this piece, a Fitch was a cross breed of Domestic Ferret [Albino] and a wild
Polecat. These crosses were described as being marked as a polecat, but
with lighter coloring, especially around the face, throat and mask. Fitches
were very much prized as hunting animals because they had the milder
temperament of the "Ferret" yet the stronger hunting urges of the wild
Polecat (Which was much deminished in the domestic Ferret). It was a pretty
interesting piece all in all.
