Could be that I just missed it, but hoping for a reply to my vet question
regarding cystic prostatic disease. I suspect that is what is going on with
a shelter ferret here. He responded well to antibiotics at first but then
deteriorated. I am planning to do an exploratory in a few days, having run
out of other ideas. Would like to know what type of surgical resolution
might be possible if that's what we find. I have seen CPD on necropsy and
it's a bit of a mess. If this is what we find, is it practical to try to
remove the cyst? It wasn't on the previous case, but the situation was very
advanced--to the point of no urination or defecation (bought to our shelter
waaaaay too late). Could the cyst be drained on surgery and a drain placed
on closing? Any and all ideas are welcome regarding a surgical approach to
the situation, if such is practical.
Thanks for input!
