interested parties were, what kind of information was being compiled, & how
it would be conducted.  I thought you would like to read her reply.

Juliana,
It is not unreasonable of you to ask these questions.  Being a ferret owner
myself I fully understand that care has to be taken as they are illegal as
"pets" in some states.  The purpose of our study is to see if we can come up
with information about the care and housing of ferrets that can benefit the
health and welfare of ferrets everywhere.  By doing a worldwide study it
gives us a large pool of information to draw from and broadranging studies
such as this one have often produced valuable data in the past.
 
This study stems from the fact that as a scientist I am able to do such a
study, and as a ferret owner it is of great interest to me.  The results
will be made available to ferret owners so the primary purpose of this study
is to increase the health and wellbeing of ferrets everywhere.There are no
other agencies or companies involved in this project, and the only
involvement my lab will have will be in the assessment of the data we
collect.
