Well, for those of you who have noticed my posts about the "neglected little
ferret" girl I was trying adopt, I have good news. We finally go to go and
pick her up today! It was some trek too, beleive me. About 60 miles to get
there, and our car has been really messing up. But it did great on the way
there, and I thought "great, this wont be that bad after all"....wrong, boy
was I wrong, but I will tell more about that later.

We get to our friends house and he is completely depressed over having to
get rid of her. He truly loved her, but I guess he just realized that with
a full time and job and other animals to take care of, plus a family, he
just didn't have the time. Not to mention that their house was no where
near ferret proof. So he says his good byes and stuff. And I go to
introduce myself to her, and to check her over a bit. I coat my hands well
with bitter apple and reach in to let her smell me. She sniffs a bit and
then I put my hand on her to pick her up and she promptly punctures my hand
in several places. (what gratitude) <G> So then we pack up to leave. That
is when it starts to rain, hard. And we have already figured out that the
distributor cap is bad <?> and our car has virtually no power, the
headlights were dim and the windsheild wipers would barely go. Oh, did I
mention that these folks live in the middle of the country, with these nifty
red clay roads that are just like slip and slides when wet? So we had tons
of fun. First worrying whether or not we would make it out without getting
stuck. Then once we made it to "civilized" roads, our cars headlights
started to get really dim, and our windshield wipers were barely going
enough to keep it to where we could see. All we could do was to pray we
made it all the way home safely. Well, we made it into town, and got a half
a mile away from home before our headlights completely died, and then our
car did as well. Thank goodness we were only five minutes away from my
mother, and she came and gave us a jump. And I am thinking all the time
"Boy, the things we will do for ferrets"....but it is worth it.

Now she is home and had her bath. (she was so good, just laid there
relaxing in the warm water with all four feet splayed out like a bear skin
rug) We have let her run all over the house exploring. She has had so much
fun. She is the most playfull little baby I have ever seen! She makes a
toy of everything. She found her way to Gypsys cage and began dooking and
jumping and acting up. (I know we probably shouldn't have) But we let ole
Gypers out. Boy did they have a time! They ran and played. My poor fat
Gypsy was pooped! He has not ran that much in his life. Of course neither
has she, she has never got to run much at all, but she is still ripping and
snorting. You would have thought they had been together all their lives!
They would take turns chasing each other, and playing tug of war with a
teddy bear. And they were playing hide and seek under the dust ruffles of
the chair. It is truly the most remarkable thing I have ever seen. When
she got here , (after her bath) she got her very own "blankie" (a receiving
blanket) and now they are both curled up in the floor together underneath
it. This is better than I could have ever hoped for. And to top it off,
she has not bitten since she has been here. Not during her bath, and not
when I dried her off. She tries to nip a bit if you touch her around her
face, but she doesn't mind her body being rubbed. And she has the softest,
thickest fur I have ever seen. She is also very big, (for a girl) she is
not quite as long as Gypsy (1 year old MF male) and her head is smaller, but
I would say she matches him ounce for ounce.

Right now they are "cuddling" and loving on each other.....(Can everyone say
AWWWWW!) This is just so wonderfull and I am now so relieved that she is
safe now and has a loving home with a good ferret boyfriend who already is
smitten with her. Is this love at first sight? I certainly hope so! (lets
see if he still feels the same about her in the morning!)
