I have the Midwest Ferret Playpen and I haven't made any changes to it yet,
though I hope to get a couple more shelves put in so they have a second
'floor' to play on.

I did have a problem with my babies falling from the top level, from the
hammock actually, all the way to the bottom. Though they learned fast. It
was the first two ferrets we ever had. Two girls, only 7 1/2 weeks old. We
jumped when they fell, believe me, and there was much pampering and petting.
I bought a second hammock so that they can 'walk/waddle' to the shelf, plus
the added hammock space for the rest of the gang we have accumulated over
the past year.

Still, one of the girls will misjudge and fall to the bottom. Sometimes I
think she does it on purpose, though she doesn't get the attention she used
to. That or she's in a BIG hurry to use the litterbox. They're quite hardy
and tough little fuzzies because we've never seen so much as a bruise from a
fall. Anyway, she gets up from the floor of the cage and gives us a look
(just like a cat) that says 'I meant to do that'. ;)
