Toni there is no such thing as a "Dept. of Ferret Control" in Texas that I
know of. You must understand that these people who call themselves animal
rights activitist will go to any length to get what they want. Including
lies about you and anybody who has a pet. I know first hand because when I
went to talk in favor of legalizing ferrets in San Antonio.....they flat out
lied....saying that we were there only to make money off of ferrets. It's
kinda hard to make money off of nuetered and spayed ferrets. Yet they were
the one's getting payed to be there and talk against ferrets. One was
getting over a $120,000 a year to go and talk against it. They fly him
anywhere and everywhere to speak against ferrets. As far as a license in
Austin, contact your local ferret club in Austin or contact [log in to unmask]
(founder and director of SAFE) in San Antonio, Texas. I don't know the name
of the club in Austin but Rick will know. Toni, this is very important,
since you do not have any papers showing that your ferret has gotten any
shots. Please take your ferret to a vet who is knowlegable in ferrets and
get his/her shots right away. If you do not know of such a vet in Austin
then Rick may be able to guide you to one. If nothing else there is a very
good Dr. in Universal City, just outside of San Antonio by the name of Dr.
Leo Gates. Dr. Gates will call or fax information to any vet he finds who
has goofed up on diagnosing or treating a ferret. If you have any questions
please contact me at [log in to unmask] May I suggest you go by the shelter
in San Antonio....you won't regret it. Happy Dook Dook
