My vet was telling me about a seminar he attended recently, the subject
being the reliability of ultrasound in diagnostics for ferrets and other
small animals. Apparently the experts who were speaking at this seminar
(three of them who are unaffiliated) advised that diagnostic ultrasound in
small animals is very unreliable due to their size. They endorsed it's use
in cats, dogs and their ilk but recommended blood screens and exploratory
surgery as the most reliable and accurate means of diagnostics for small
animals.

Does anyone have any input on this? Naturally I'd rather have ultrasound
used before surgery but not if it is likely miss or misdiagnose an illness.
When a little one's sick, you gotta act FAST. (All are in good health here,
just want some input)

Please either email me directly or post with any info.
Thanks!!
Sharon (SP)
