Help with Shadow

My ferret Shadow is about 5 years of age and in good health.  I do not
understand as to why he is losing his fur to where you are able to see his
skin.  I am very worried and would like to know if anyone had any reason as
why this is happening.  He is still his playful hyper self but as to why he
is losing his coat I have no explanation.  So if anyone had or has any
similar occurrences please contact me ASAP.
