The Rabies Abstract posted by Dick Bossart in the FML 2132, Topic 1 was
prepared by CDC nearly a month before the Rabies in the America's Conference
held in Kingston, Ontario, Canada during the first week in November. The
information contained therein was presented to the NASHPV Compendium
Committee in Syracuse, New York during the first weekend in November.

The Compendium Committee considered the data obtained from the rabies
variant studies of Skunk, Raccoon, Coyote, and Four Bat Species to reach its
conclusion that ferrets could be safely treated like dogs and cats. The
question raised by Ronnie DiComo in FML 2134, Topic 26 is answered as "Yes,
this is what the general policy was before the NASHPV Compendium Committee
unanimously voted to treat ferrets like dogs and cats."
