Hello,
A few days ago I put up a proposal to do a Web page for those
groups out there that are interested. Her is a copy of my proposal to
lookat, because there was some confusion as to whether I was just
trying to compile another list of ferret groups that already exists
via STAR. I assure you it's not the same thing.
WEB PAGE INFORMATION SHEET - DRAFT (aka: Operation: Spread the word)
Object: to provide a list of ferret groups and references for people.
to facilitate the publicity of ferret groups.
to help these groups find more support in their
communities and from other shelters.
to increase public knowledge of these groups and to
increase access to them.
Medium: The WorldWideWeb is a network of information distributed
throughout the information highway (Internet). It offers access to a
wide audience of individuals, and the Internet is growing every day.
A Web page is made up of links to other information, called
hypertext. I am proposing a central index page with links to an
individual Web page for each organisation that chooses to
participate. Organisations that are already wired may wish to simply
submit the global address for their current Web page, and I'll link
it in. Organisations that are not yet on the internet may wish to
one day take control over their Web page when they gain the expertise
required. I have absolutely no problem with this.
Creator: Katherine Robson. My purpose is to spread information
around in the best possible way. THIS SERVICE IS FREE!
Groups: Any kind of group. You can be a: shelter, information
oriented, lobby group or anything else I haven't thought of...
Format of page:
1) -address
-phone number
-e-mail address (if applicable)
-contact names
2) -date of creation ( ie. when was the group founded?)
-how big is the group? National, regional, municipal
-number of members
-donations / year and overhead costs of operation (
this is to give people and idea of the need and the
size of the group) *This clause is not mandatory. If
you do not wish to disclose your finances than,
please, do not.*
3) -Mandate of the group (what are the goals and code of
the group?)
-Services offered:
-rescue, shelter and locating homes
-cage supply (selling or referral)
-advise (to soon to be or new owners)
-vet recommendations
-emergency assistance
-fund raising
-events
-newsletter (and price, if there is
one)
-Ferret-sitting service
-Breeder recommendations
-lobbying (government & pet stores)
-etc...
4) -if you have a logo or picture that you want to be
added to your page thanplease send it to me along with your
information.
Comments: If you have any problems with the format or if you wish to
make any suggestions, please contact me. Please follow the format
schedule in terms of providing information and set up. If you know
of any other groups that may be interested in having a page through
the FERRET CENTRAL Web Page, please pass this information along or
send me their address and I will contact them. I will try to present
the pages to you before officially adding them to the Web Page.
