The Compendium of Animal Rabies Control, 1998 is now available on the web.

Divided into three sections, http://www.avma.org/pubhlth/rabcont.html
-Recommendations for Parenteral Immunization (not much of interest there))
http://www.avma.org/pubhlth/rabvacc.html - Rabies Vaccines Licensed in the
US and NASPHV Reccommendations, 1998 (Imrab 3 is listed as approved for use
in ferrets, but that's not new)

http://www.avma.org/pubhlth/rabcontb.html - Rabies Control (This is the
part that finally got changed!!)

I printed out a copy of the Rabies Control for my files...just in case!

The AVMA site (http://www.avma.org) in general is a pretty good place for
pet owners as well as vets; it lists health info, has a Pet Owners Guide to
Common Small Animal Poisons, and links to other sites.

There is a short section on ferrets as pets, kind of ho-hum, it does say
that the rabies shed period is 'unknown'. :-(

There are also links to state and local veterinary groups, which might be
useful for clubs/shelters, etc, if you need to get info out to vets in a
specific area it might be a good place to start.
