After reading the post from Jennifer Coyer in this mornings digest, where
she states:
>Also most ferrets need a diet with a minimum protein source of 35%, which
>Eukanuba does not supply. Eukanuba Chicken and Rice formula for cats, it
>just that- food formulated for cats..not ferrets. I do not understand why
>their is a problem with recommending Totally Ferret for ferrets as one of
>the best diets. Also Eukanuba contains Ethoxaquin, which has been proven
>scientifically that it causes cancer, adrenal in dogs, and many experts
>believe that it does the same in ferrets.
I would like to point out that the protien % of EUKANUBA is guaranteed to be
not less then 34%. I find it difficult to believe that one or two
percentage points can make such a difference in the health of my fuzzbutts.
I would also say that I challenge Jennifer to list her sources for the
comment regarding Ethoxyquin having been proved to cause cancers in cats
and\or dogs. As far as I understand, the jury is actually still out on
that. I also have a problemwith the comment:
>The problem with Eukanuba is that many animals have allergic reactions to
>it, cats, dogs and ferrets. Simply because of the chicken liver and fish
>meal that is contains.
After reading post after post from people that have claimed to feed their
ferrets whole chicken carcasses, again, I challenge Jennifer to post her
sources for the "many animals have allergic reactions"
I am not trying to start a war here, but I do want to understand more about
the nutritional requirements of the ferret, backed up by factual
information, not just comments without backup.
Thanks,
Manfred
