About hair loss on the end of the tail:
 
I just had a similar question from someone here.  Hair loss on the tail
(*not* at the base of the tail -- that's different and often symptomatic of
adrenal tumours) is usually `idiopathic'.  That's a fancy word vets like to
use for `we have no *clue* why it's happening!'  It can sometimes be
associated with age, stress, seasonal changes, or allergies, but very rarely
anything serious.
