Saturday I visited the Ferret Association of CT's shelter to volunteer.

My job was to bathe the older ferrets and clip nails and clean ears. I also
helped give Mira a medical wash and cleaned her ears. Mira is a cute little
chocolate ferret who was burned with bleach and stepped on.

Her burns are healing. There are large scabs, some of which have fallen
off. Her main problem is a swollen leg because the scar tissue is
compressing a vein. Our vet is monitoring her and she may end up losing the
leg, as infection has set in; she is on antibiotics. The burns are no
longer horrifying to look at, but the leg is not a pretty sight.

I was impressed by her sweetness and she was able to walk over to utilize
the paper on two occasions. She also climbed into a little bed and she gets
along well with the other ferrets.

We will continue to post updates on our site and we thank those who have
contributed.
