Ferris, the ferret who had a seizure two Sundays ago, went to see the ferret
specialist at the Amherst Clinic in Scarboro, Ontario today. He saw Dr.
Luckwaldt. I was very impressed with the vet. HE was completly comfortable
around Ferris and Meeka and he was able to check out Ferris' abdomen and
concluded that there was nothing to indicate an unaccountable mass - Ferris'
spleen had "sharp" definition but nothing to suggest anything other than a
slightly enlarged condition (please note this has been Ferris' diagnosis of
his abdomen for over two years).
Ferris is on Randy Blair's (F.A.S.T.) woozle goo recipe with Timmys Tonic
(Gary Holowicki's product). I freeze the goo in an ice cube tray and then I
pop it all into a container to keep in the freezer for easy use. I take one
cube and defrost it in the microwave (about 20 seconds), add some Timmys
(about 1/4 teaspoon) I then grind up four teaspoons of Totally Ferret and
add that to the mixture. I add a little water to make it stirable and then
I put it in the microwave for 10 - 15 seconds to warm it up then I go get a
fluffy towel and sit Ferris on my lap and feed it to him off my finger. He
eats it up very well - sometimes he eats more than other times and I guess
that is just his metabolism - he and Meeka also have access to their crunchy
food 24 hours a day.
I give Ferris about 1/2 to 1/3 of this bowl (depending on his appetite) at
7:00 am, between 1-2 pm, around 4-5 and then again at 9 - 10 p.m. This is a
bit intense I know and we do miss this schedule on the days when we go up
north to ski but otherwise I am very faithful to this schedule. I have also
begun to add collodial silver to his ferretone treat that he and Meeka get
every morning (about 3 -4 cc of collodial silver) I am using this to control
tumours and for the antibiotic effect.
I am about to add brewers yeast (debittered) to his woozle goo mixture. The
vet concurred that this holistic and nutritional approach was probably the
best (even though he admitted that as a vet he was somewhat lacking in this
field). Ferris is also back up and close to his original weight when he was
a little whipper-snapper. The vet was impressed with the info I had pulled
off the FML (thank you Bob Church and Gary Holowicki) and he mentioned that
he would be getting on the net ASAP through some friends. (Rob and Kate
Adler - you might want to give him some help with this).
Anyway for those of you who are dealing with Insulnomic ferrets or who have
had a seizure (ferret I mean) . I would recommend what I have outlined
above. Even if you are able to do it before work, right after work and
before you go to bed it might just make the difference.
So far - so good. I will keep you all posted.
Lynn (up here in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada)
