Regarding the post about people on FML being great ferret owners because
there here:
My first rescue, went and got two ferrets from a guy who couldn't keep them
anymore. (BTW I worry about the word rescue - it makes me sound really
official but I'm not. I was trying to help out because there was no one
else). Posted the availability on FML. Got a response, set up a meet - we
both drove and met halfway, about an hour and a half for me. This person
was on FML right? She had tried to start a ferret room on irc right?
Already had 2 fuzzies right? Was really into ferrets right? What could be
wrong? Remember my post yesterday about burn out, getting in over your head
etc.? This person posted about the 2 she got from me for awhile then quit.
She started posting about a new ferret she had picked up at a recent show.
In a private e-mail I asked her what happened to the 2? Well yada yada yada
(a lot of poor excuses IMO) she had given (actually sold for 50.00) one to a
customer in her beauty shop who wanted one and passed the other to someone
else. This was their 3rd owner, they were under a year old and the only
constant in their lives was each other and she split them up. This was
after I had specifically told her to call me if it didn't work out. She
still posted for a couple of months, I haven't seen a post in over a year.
She may still have her 3...or not. Learned a lot about "rescue" the hard
way. Don't ever assume anything including that someone on FML is
automatically someone you want to place with.
