I have posted here several times and have tried to be involved with the
still developing DC Ferret Coalition. I have a huge problem. I live in a
building/dorm at school which does not allow pets. Today, someone found out
that I have two ferrets and made me take them out of the building. I live
in the district, so I am illegal already. They are staying at a friend's
apartment until I can get them home to Baltimore. This is where the problem
begins. My mom won't have them in her apartment. I haven't spoken with my
father yet, but I am pretty sure that I could only keep them there through
Thanksgiving or through Christmas at the latest. I thought that I could
move off campus and get an apartment (not school owned), but my mom says
that if I do that, I am on my own for tuition which is about $30,000 a year.
I am just a student and not wealthy by any means. I cannot even dream of
giving up my babies. I will be moving off campus at the end of April, but
in the mean time, I need a solution. Are there shelters in my area that
would be willing to take them in (all necessities provided, food, cage,
medical care, etc...) for Jan-Apr? Are there any non-shelters/just ferret
owners who would be willing to take them in for me? I would prefer
somewhere close by so that I could visit. I cannot give up my babies. I
refuse. I love them too much. I am in so much pain right now that my
family is not coming through for me. I hate them all right now. Please
don't chastise me for not thinking ahead. I do want to keep them, but right
now I don't have any options. Someone please help me. I am begging on my
hands and knees. I don't know what I would do without them.
In distress,
Serenity Cromer without fuzzies : (
