On the subject of chewing, my kit found found something harmless to gnaw on
for several minutes at a time: my dishpan.  She looks for it under the
kitchen sink and has gnawed it all around the edge without ingesting
particles or destroying anything valuable.  Fortunately, the cabinet under
the sink is ferret-proof and Fannie isn't interested in the insinkerator
hose.  So if you don't already own a dishpan, your ferret/s might like one.
