I recently became a subscriber to FML; it and the other available website
have been of GREAT value to me! There is little ferret info where we live
(the DSM city library has a couple kids story books about a kid adopting a
bbf). Over the years I've adopted a series of older ferrets (6-8yrs), but
have had little experience with younger ferrets, esp. jills. This weekend
our ferret family increased dramatically. Wondering what we're in for...
I had Isaac, my 18 mo. old, very good-natured boy. He is on the small
side, but totally fearless and very stable. We had planned to take in 2
older ferrets belonging to a co-worker. The 6 yr old boy has 100% cataracts
and is very intolerant of Isaac. Keeping them apart for now. I also have
cataracts, so sympathize. The jill is younger, around 4(?). She seems
afraid of Isaac, but they have started to play, and curled up to sleep
together.
Got a rescue call on Sat. and now have another 2 yr old pair, hob and jill.
Both of the younger rescues and Isaac are mad for eachother; wrestling,
giggling and sleeping together. Those three have moved into the same large
cage by preference. The older 2 are caged together. I have whippets and
birds (and herps) so nobody is out of cage full time unsupervised. The
older guys were 100% "free" before. Any advice "melding" this business
appreciated!!!
