The BBC Network puts out a show called "Are You Being Served?".
 
Occasionally on the show they will make a reference to ferrets in the pants
of a particular character that he uses as an excuse when something happened
to him while they were out in a public place.  Also, on the Drew Carey show
there was an episode where one of the characters bought a ferret to keep her
company and escaped in the department store she works at eventually crawling
up the pants of co-worker before it got away again.
