We who have shelters, halfway houses, and are ferret owners and lovers
recognize that taking in unwanted ferrets is putting a bandaid on a huge
injury. One of the most important things that we in the ferret community
can do for the ferrets now and in the future is to educate the people who
work in the animal care business, the ferret owner, and the prospective
ferret owner. Whether you choose to house 43 unwanted ferrets and provide
them with good care or have one ferret and spend your energies on ferret
awareness and education should be a matter of personal preference, and
knowing what you can and cannot handle. Thankyou to all those folks that do
one or both things! A special thankyou to Alicia Drakiotes, at Ferretwise
in NH. who is putting her energy into ferret education. Here's to a more
informed and enlightened public!
