hello all, hope this isn't the hight of rudeness to post only yesterday and
be asking for help today!  Last time I posted about a pet store in Las
Cruces New Mexico which has major cage problems with their three ferts.
Today I went in and fully investigated the hell hole...they had ten huge
rats in a small class cage--with a new (i.e. no hair, eyes shut) litter of
rats!!!!  I have had rats in the past and know that sooner or later one of
the big rats is going to eat those babys!  Also, had two hedgehogs in
seperate glass cages with CEADER CHIPS as bedding (the smell will literaly
kill them).  Also, no wheel or anything for them.  She had the nerve to tell
me--"Boy they sure are lazy" I had to inform her that they sleep all day,
but run like hell all night!!  She had no clue!!!
 
O.K, now the fert attrocities...the cage is still the same!  I got a good
close look at the three HUGE ferts (never, ever seen ones this big), and
they seem in pretty good shape--the owner was saying, "see their fat and
healthy", I told her they were fat because they had no exercise!!!) She
showed me their certificates from MF--look exactly the same as the ones I
got with my kids, BUT none of the ferts had tatto's.  This woman had no idea
what the hell I was talking about with the tattos's!!  She says her son is
the one who does all the ordering...have to corner him next.  The lady
seemed willing to have me bring in the FAQ to be handed out with the
purchase with the ferts (also have a similar thing for hedgies which I will
be taking in on Monday).  I told her she should read up on ferts if she was
going to be selling them.  She had harsh words for Animal Control
(understand we have a very diffrent AC here in town--so far no tradigies)
saying they `framed' her for all her previous infractions.
 
Heres where I need help, what do I do here?  AC has been notified many times
on this woman!!!!  Also, what is the deal with untattoed MF ferrets?  If she
does get her ferts from MF then they probably (more than likely, I am pretty
sure) come of the exact same truck as do the ferts at the pet store around
the corner (ANimal Friends--have had very good luck with them--have several
fert people who know what to look for)...so what is the deal here.  I would
love to take the three ferts but don't have the money and am hesitant to
bring those big guys home to my guys.
 
One last thing (sorry so long) she told us the ferts were bitters, like most
don't start out that way.  Sure enough when I went to look for tattos one
took a nip at me--no biggie--but she thumped it on the head with those thick
fake nails!  You could hear the thump!!!  Then she grabed the ferts head
really hard and said "see mommy loves you!".  She really shook they poor
guy.  He took a nip at her and I don't blame him!!!  I about smacked her
myself!!!  I am loosing sleep over all the animals in the shop, someone
please tell me what to do!!!!!!
