IAMS:
I emailed IAMS to say how much my ferrets love IAMS Kitten.  I suggested
that Kitten be sold in 50# bags and that they might market it to ferret
owners.  I told them that my ferrets used to eat Kaytee, but when one got
underweight, I switched her to IAMS for the higher animal protein and fat
content.
 
In no time, the other ferrets and the cat discovered the IAMS.  They would
reach into Shasta's iso-cage to get it.  When I let her out to play with
them, they would crowd into her cage to get the IAMS.  Then they stopped
eating the Kaytee altogether.  Hermann would kick it out of the food dish.
Rikki would bring chunks of IAMS over to the Kaytee-filled dish to eat them.
Beaubeaux took to carrying the Kaytee to the litter box,piece by piece!
 
I got the message.  We switched to IAMS, and the ones that seemed healthy
got even bigger and stronger.  Shasta's now so big I mistake her for
Beaubeaux.

Zoos:
The Greater Chicago Ferret Shelter has been bringing ferrets to the
Brookfield zoo.  The zoo has a petting area for children, and GCFA has
brought the nicest, most people-oriented ferrets there to meet the folks.  I
think it's brilliant.  I doubt, though, that domestic ferrets live in zoos
anywhere.
 
Ferret-proofing:
What couch style is ferret-proof?  I have the standard cloth-covered
wood-framed, cheaply-stuffed 70s junk couch.  It has slits along the sides
where the ferrets can get all the way in.  We hate this.  Anyone got a
leather couch?  How does it hold up?
