Hello:
To those of you who offered to help convince companies to insure ferrets, I
have not forgotten about any of you. I have a list of everyone who e-mailed
me that was interested in helping. However, I apologize that I haven't been
in touch with you to let you know what is going on!
I am still waiting for a couple of companies to contact me regarding their
policies. I want to have the most recent info they have, so we can
call/write to them sounding informed and convincing. Since my shelter is
about to move (we're opening a new branch of PFRA in Boyertown, PA, on June
1) I would assume that shortly after that date we'll move ahead. This is
also due to the Kodo situation; I am not only trying to gather funds for him
but now I am also researching Pennsylvania law. I was told we have an
automatic kill and test policy here, and I intend to do something about it.
(HEY PENNSYLVANIANS OUT THERE: does anyone already have a copy of the laws
concerning ferrets in Pa? It would save me some research time. Also, have
any of you already tried to change the law here? Maybe a combined effort
among PA shelters would be good?)
Anyway. Back to the insurance thing: I do need something from one of you
out there. I need a veterinarian (or someone that works in a vet's office
and has a good relationship with a vet) who can provide me with some data to
provide to insurance companies. They are, after all, a business, and they
are most concerned with the bottom dollar. CALLING ALL VETS: how can we
convince pet insurers that ferrets would be a wise addition to their
policies? How does the difference in lifespan/medical problems of ferrets
compare to dogs and cats in dollars and cents, and how do we pose that to an
insurance company? Please e-mail me directly with the subject "vet data on
ferret insurance." THANKS!
So, don't forget about me, I haven't about you. We'll get this insurance
thing changed (I'm sure it's easier than changing state laws, anyway...)
Hey, I'm looking for someone: Is there a HANS OR KIM DANZIGER (sp?) out
there? Email me...we have a friend in common!
