>I just thought everybody should know that the Michigan Anti-Cruelty Society,
>13569 Joseph Campau, Detroit,MI 48212 (313) 891-7188 , Told me at the
>Detroit dog show on March 8th, that they put down all ferrets that they take
>in. When I asked why they said because of the "rabies thing". I said there
>is shelters that would take them but she wouldnt listen, I got so mad ...

Since they are just a stone's throw away from my office, I called them and
spoke with a Debbie Kein (receptionist & animal tech). She was surprised
about this statement and indicated that all ferrets are placed in a
"Ferret Rescue." I asked what ferret shelter they were placed in and she
said it wasn't a shelter but a private couple.

She had no explanation as to why someone at the dog show would have said
that, but was quite sure that they do not put kill the ferrets they get
in...
