Ferret PEOPLE Fun and Information Day!

On Sunday, August 10th, a group of ferret owners from all over Kansas will
be meeting at the Sedgewick County Park. There will be games, vendor items
such as the much-sought-after "Totally Ferret" brand of ferret food,
alternative care items, and exchange of information and ideas among ferret
owners.

Also, there will be a guest speaker to discuss legislative processes in
Kansas, and a statewide coalition will be forming to educate and propose
legislation for a quarantine period in cases where ferrets bite or scratch
humans. Currently, if a ferret bites or scratches a human, the animal is
often removed from their home, killed and tested for rabies, despite
evidence that this domestic pet cannot carry the virus and live.

Vendors of pet or ferret related products are invited to contact Troy Lynn
Eckert of Ferret Family Services 785-456-8FFS (8337) if they would like to
display products during the event, scheduled for 10am to 3pm.

Current ferret owners, interested individuals, and animal lovers from all
walks of life are invited and encouraged to attend. We do ask that your pet
ferrets be kept at home for this event - due to the current Kansas law - as
we would all be saddened at the loss of a family pet.
