And she did and I agree. Yes it would be totally fun and indulgent to go to
Florida and play at Disney World with all the FMLers.

But honestly, gang, I think we could have just as much fun and do something
really valuable for ferrets everywhere if we demonstrated in Washington.

Demonstrating in the capitol would get us a lot of attention if we played
our media cards right.

IMHO a lot of the mistreatment of ferrets originates from simple ignorance.
If we want laws in the States giving ferrets the same sort of protected
status as companion animals as dogs and cats we need to be very visible. We
need to find out who within goverment is our "friend," we need to develop
the type of political alliances that get us the ears of law makers. I
really don't like to play politricks, but I will for ferrets.

I've stayed out of the new national organization VS existing ones debate
because I really don't 100% understand why the current organizations can't
fufill this role. What I will not deny is the need for a national presence
advocating ferrets in legal matters and educating the populace on ferrets.

I was really impressed how well we banded together to help Robert and Kitty
and Kodo. If we could apply this same sort of energy really consistantly -
I think we could make a difference!
