For those of you in my area, spoke with Dr. Graham of Dept. of Health
regarding rabies.

Ferrets are considered domestic pets in Suffolk County, on Long Island and
are treated just like cats and dogs; with proof of vaccination there is no
problem at all - could be 10 day house observation by owner just in case; no
proof of vaccination would require 10 days house observation and immediate
vaccination. Whew! What a relief, as I hadn't really thought about it
until poor Kodo's troubles came along. So many people have come to lover
ferrets because of mine (had never seen them before that ... thought they
were like rats :>( Ugh!).

He didn't know I had ferrets at the start of the conversation and told me
they are very cute but can be a bit frisky or nippy due to curious, playful
personality. Wish everyone was this understanding!

Anyway, just an info note.

A friendly ferret salute to all
