>Subject: Do Ferrets Pant?
>... Well we have another new male 3 month old we welcomed last week and

Out of our four ferrets, only one of them makes a panting sound like you
describe. That would be Cameron, who (we think) is the eldest of the bunch.
(He was rescued from a highway, so we don't know exactly how old he is.) He
makes it on and off when playing, and also when we're cuddling him in our
arms. We've come to interpret it as a sound of contentment.
