You can encourage and support the wonderful people who work so hard for the
ferrets we love by sending e-mail greetings, donating ferret gifts or
supplies, contributing to paying expenses, or volunteering for hands-on
help. Contributions may be made directly to their vets to cover overdue
bills.

Branch shelter Carlsbad, NM, Eydie Fox, [log in to unmask]

The shelter is bursting at the seams with more fuzzies than I can count.
A few were adopted out, but the new arrivals far exceeded this number.

Several surgeries were done in the last month. The heat is awful here.
Since the number of ferrets is so high right now, I am going to need to
devote another room to the ferrets. However, there is no AC in that room so
the shelter is desperately in need of a 5,000 btu (or larger) window AC unit.

I'd also like to say *THANK YOU SPONSORS!!*
[Currently, I have several fuzzies looking for sponsors if anyone is
interested.]

Ferret Wise is now a specialized "critical care" shelter facility for
domestic ferrets. Ferret Wise assists in abuse and neglect investigations
and offers rehabilitation to ferrets acquiried by state shelter agencies.
Investigation and prosecutorial costs will be insurmountable. Please
consider a donation to the investigation "fund". We are a tax exempt
shelter, and all donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

ALSO please note any donations to vets should be clearly marked for Ferret

I do rescue for ferrets that need to go out of state for F&G surrenders
and ferrets that are unwanted or lost. I am on Fish & Game's List as a
legitimate rescue to call if they get a ferret in. All ferrets taken in
go to shelters or adoptive parents out of state.

My reason for wanting to be on the shelter list is for being a resource for
anyone who needs information here in CA on their fuzzies, legalization,
vets or anything else. If I don't know the answer, I usually know who
does. I spend a great deal of time gathering letters, meeting with my
Assembly and Senate Representatives and traveling to SAC for all the
hearings.

Adoptable ferrets: 5 Adopted out this month: 4
Unpaid vet bills: $100 Unpaid shelter bills: $300
We also have two ferrets recently diagnosed with adrenals. One has had
adrenal surgery and Lysodrine, which is an expensive drug, is his only
option left. The other ferret will need to undergo surgery, which is also
expensive.

Wish List: Donations of course, but would love a big bag of TF/Innova Could
really use ferretone, ferretvite and Canine/Feline AD, not to mention
pedialyte and IM solution w/needles for dehydration and illness.
