I've been lurking for a while on the list but had to respond to this post.
God bless you for everything you've done to help the animals.  You just need
to take care of yourself and your family now, and nobody in the world has
any right whatsoever to question your decision or criticize you for it.  I
recently adopted two little shelter kids and am full of admiration for what
rescue operators do...their dedication, their love and their ability to go
on despite the pain and horror from some of the cases they are faced with.
You are one of those people, someone to be admired.
