How could anyone who refers to themselves as a "ferret lover" solicate funds
for a organization that kills ferrets?  Isn't this slightly odd?
 
On someone's posting (I'm not sure if it was from STAR*Ferret) we as the
ferret loving communtiy were ask to send in a dollar per ferret that we
owned to the Morris Animal Foundation to help further their research into
rabies in ferrets.
 
Your dollar would contribute to useless studies that have been performed
dozens of time prior.  NEVER has there been a documented case of a ferret
passing rabies onto a human.  The ratio of dogs and cats contracting rabies
FAR out ways the the chances of ferrets becoming rabid.
 
The MAF has tested so many strains of the rabies virus.  Why do we need to
test a bat strain?  How many of our ferrets are exposed to wild animals?
How many of our ferrets would be able to survive on their own long enough to
even be exposed to rabies?
 
MAF will take your money, send it to Dr. Briggs at Kansas State University,
and then they will purposefully expose ferrets from Marshall Farms to
various forms of the rabies virus.  They will then let the ferrets go
insane, kill them, decapitate them and study their brains.  Most likely they
will not find out anything we all didn't already know!
 
Ferret's just like your own cuddly little fuzzies are being murdered by the
hundreds.  If you have a Marshall Farms ferret; your baby was very lucky,
but it's siblings may have not been.

I would never give a dollar to have a fuzzie killed; and I would never
volunteer one of my own 14 babies (12 of which were rescued) to be killed
