Most of the licensed shelters in NJ have achieved superoverload status.
Much of this is due to people turning in not one or two, but multiple (3-5)
ferrets at a time.  Many of these ferrets are perfectly adoptable 1-3 year
olds, however, there are some older ferrets in good health as well.
Additionally there are some ferrets who have health issues who are available
for foster.  All adopted ferrets are altered, current on Distemper, and
given a clean bill of health before leaving the shelter.
 
If you are interested in adopting a ferret, please e-mail me with the area
of the state you are in.  I will get back to you with a shelter in that
area.  Additionally, if you are a shelter in NJ, let me know you are there.
I think I am aware of all of them, but not positive, so even if you think I
know you are out there, please drop me a line just to be certain.
 
Bill I hope you let this one slide- I know it is really more geared towards
advertising, but several shelters are full enough that they are closing
their doors, and/or overflowing into households like mine who really aren't
shelters, but are helping due to the critical nature of the overload.  We
have also just had one of the bigger shelters close due to the operators
relocating out of state.
