Hey all. I have a serious question for you guys. My roommate acquired a
yorkie pup a few months ago. I have never had an indoor dog before, but my
roommate said you can expect it to take a few months to papertrain (that's
the method she chose for the dog) a pup. Sonar is now 7 months old and not
a bit paper trained. She bought some of the puppy pads, that have some
appealing smell that's supposed to encourage dogs to use them, but the
ferrets are becoming "paper trained," too.

That wouldn't be such a big deal, except that once one of the fritters uses
the papers, the dog won't....we have six ferrets, so it's hard to expect
them not to use the paper. I have tried to encourage my r'mate to
housebreak the dog (take it outside for potty), but she said it's not
possible with her schedule.

We have an apartment, so limited space. She thinks that confining the ferts
to a smaller area is the solution (keep them away from each other). I
really hate to reduce their space. Anybody with papertrained dogs and
ferrets have any suggestions? Please, I need ideas. I'd like to continue
to live with my r'mate, we get along pretty well, but I can't live in such
unsanitary conditions much longer. A dog that isn't potty trained is *so*
much worse than a ferret missing a box now and then! You can respond
privately if you don't want to waste space on the FML.

Thanks!
