Hi all. I have two adorable kits, 12 & 14 weeks: Thomasina Jacqueline (TJ)
and Jacques Cousteau (JC) (...named *before* the real JC passed away). I
purchased a wood and chicken wire cage (raised floor covered with kitchen
tile) when I bought them. I am already finding that the wood gets dirty on
the edges even though I clean the cage daily. I am looking to buy a new
cage. Any recommendations?
My vet sent me to a bird specialty pet store that carries bird cages made of
plexiglass. They have custom made ferret cages before from the same
material. The air vents are either 1/2" or 1" by 1 to 4 feet, depending on
the size of cage and construction. The lid can be vented as well. He
assures me that there is no risk of them chewing on the plexiglass... can't
get anything off. They can design the cage with or without trays that slide
out the bottom for cleaning. It is heavy enough in the size I want to need
two people to carry it (but that is an easy load them). The price is $1000.
- $1600. depending on what features I want and the size. Before I invest
that much in a cage, does anyone have good recommendations for less costly
alternatives; also, are there any probablems with this concept or design?
We aircondition the house all summer, so I'm not concerned about the heat
with such a cage.
Does ANYONE have a plexiglass cage out there??? Please e-mail me directly if
you don't mind me asking a few questions!
Thanks,
Timara
