LOST FERRET: Still no sign of the wayward weasel. Her owners came to get
her yesterday and were (obviously) quite distressed about her dissapearance,
but from the conversations I gather she has gone missing before on several
occassions.

They spent the day (I mean all of it) walking around the neighborhood with
squeaky toys, put up new posters with her photos on them and I took my dogs
out again last night in the area where she went missing ... no sign of her
so far.

I called all the local SPCAs, Pet Stores, Vet Clinics in the area. The
ferret-sitter is putting an ad in the local paper. I lent my Safe-Trap and
it's still sitting there. I also informed all the other ferret
organizations locally and told them. Does anyone have any other suggestions
for the ferret-sitter and owners? We're really at a loss.

RE: KODO
I was appalled at the whole mess, but was amazed to find the news story made
it all the way up here to BC, Canada. There was an article in the Province
last Friday, and a photo that near about made me rip someone's head off, it
broke my heart so badly.

Our sister org. in Manitoba tells me they are experiencing a similar
situation there ... I'm amazed I've never had a problem in all the years
I've raised ferrets, but we're being more than careful now.

Sounds A-Okay to me, if an international organization were to actually
happen. Heck, I'm even flattered :-) I think a *national* organization
(US) is pretty good in theory, but as I understand it -- and I'm not real up
on American Club Politics -- there are several "national" organizations in
the US and none of you seem to get along. How do the key players in those
already existing organizations plan to smooth things out and become friends?
It seems logical to me that those people who already have the experience
should be the ones forming and running the new organization, but if they
haven't gotten along thus far (and haven't from before the time I joined the
FML) I don't see how they're going to do it now. Of course, this is just
MHO, and being far, far away from most of you my opinion probably isn't all
that important <grin>.

STORY: My fuzzy angora jerk-ferret Slater Gator jumped out a kitchen window
the other evening during playtime. Bad animal. My neighbors discovered him
dancing down the street, and I do mean that quite literally -- true to his
own unique spirit, he was not slinking around the sides of houses, he was
actually war-dancing down the road like he was in the Wizard of Oz or
something. Thank goodness my neighbors know I have ferrets, or he might
have been gone for good. And praise be, the little long-nosed demon Swede
didn't bite anyone who tried to catch him. At any rate, my condolences to
those who live in FFZs and can't tell their neighbors they have ferrets, but
the rest of us should remember how useful our neighbors can be!

YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE IN CALIFORNIA who bought one of my kits in February ...
I've misplaced your e-mail address and I'm dying to hear how she's doing,
maybe even get a photo or two with an update? She was an adorable kissy
little champagne ... we'd love to hear more :-)

Happy Ferreting!
