Hi all FML's from black fly and mosquito laden Maine,
Mild winter, wet spring = Black flies and mosquitos here in Maine the size
of seagulls. Went to a hardware store the other day and they had moved the
OFF and BEN's bug repellent to the shelves with the ammo. I guess you don't
need to be a very good shot with so many hovering bugs waiting to find that
little patch of bare skin. Oops... back to the real issues.

Like most folks, we don't have a lot of spare cash laying around but it
doesn't take a financial wizard to know that if we ALL gave a buck or two
that there would soon be quite a pile of dollars that could be used to fund
this study. Here in Maine like most states now we have a 5 cent deposit on
returnable beverage cans and bottles. I will, from now on, take every
nickel from my returnables and send that amount to whomever will be doing
this research. I have seen who they are mentioned in the FML lately but if
anyone knows the name and address, please post it again. (Morris Animal
Foundation?) Come on folks, this isn't like trying to come up with
additional money. You've already spent it and now all you have to do is
return a bunch of can and bottles to save other ferrets from the terrible
ordeal Bob's Kodo is going through. It only takes 28 returnables to make up
the $1 and pay for the stamp, too! The local scout troops in our area
average about 45 cans and bottles per household during their bottle drives,
but heck, I'm not suggesting anything more than just earmarking the money
YOU get back for your own cans & bottles to be sent in to get the study
done. If, God forbid, we can't save little Kodo, we must not let history
repeat itself again for our ferrets. Remember, the next time it could be
YOUR carpet shark! Only as a group can we get this going. Lets make it
happen now before its too late. Thanks for listening.

Sincerely,
Bruce Skakle (owned by Bandit and Kirby since 1993)
